Frequently asked questions

  • To minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

By hiring a water service specialist you mitigate risks of corrosion, deposits/scale, and biological growth - all of which lead to costly maintenance repairs when left unchecked - while simultaneously improving the efficiency, reliability, and longevity of your equipment.

  • To stay ahead of potential problems.

Your piping runs through the interior walls and floors throughout your entire building making them difficult, at best, to reach when catastrophic failures occur within the circulating system. At Atom Chemical, we visit monthly, rather than quarterly or bi-annually, so that we can test for and catch potential issues as they arise. This consistency allows us to treat any issues that arise in real-time before they degrade into costly repairs that otherwise would've been detected and avoided

  • Yes! Atom Chemical not only sells heat transfer fluids such as glycol, we also help identify the proper glycol for your system, determine proper water-to-chemical ratios, provide, deliver, and inject the glycol into your system, implement an effective maintenance program, and we do it all with the fastest response times in the industry.

  • Absolutely. Atom Chemical’s water service specialists will deliver and inject any amount of heat transfer fluid directly on-site and at the appropriate water-to-chemical ratios required for your system.

  • We recommend around 36% Propelyne, 21% at the absolute lower limit.

When it comes to finding the correct percentage of glycol to put into a system, several variables need to be taken into consideration. First, what does the manufacturer of the equipment call for as the desired freeze point? Second, we have to maintain a freeze point over 21% as anything 20% and under becomes a food source for corrosive bacteria. Third, it is also dependent on the weather zone that the equipment will operate within.

Keep in mind, all of this doesn’t have to fall on you. The water system specialists at Atom Chemical can help identify the proper glycol for your system, determine proper water-to-chemical ratios, provide, deliver, and inject the glycol into your system, and implement an effective maintenance program.chemically treat your water?

  • Quarterly is recommended, bi-annually at minimum.

OSHEA recommends cooling towers be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected twice per year at minimum. At Atom Chemical, we recommend quarterly cleanings due to the open-air environment cooling towers perpetually inhabit. Cleaning and disinfecting a tower quarterly not only maintains the efficiency of the tower, it also helps further eliminate the ongoing risk of pesky bacterial growth or even potentially lethal legionella formation within your tower.

  • To minimize costs, maximize efficiency, and maintain workplace safety.

With a boiler, tubes that contain under-deposit corrosion and scale buildup create severe long-term reliability issues ranging from overheating - due to the insulating effect of the deposits on the tubes themselves - to complete tube failure.

The insulating effect mentioned above is caused by scale build-up on the boiler’s tubes. Subsequent to this buildup, the boiler now requires more fuel to achieve the same level of performance that the once-clean tubes had previously generated. This added fuel leads to an increase in costs to maintain the same level of output from the boiler.

With scale buildup leading to the damage of your boiler and its longevity combined with the increase in costs to maintain its performance, it's easy to rationalize why acid cleaning services would be utilized to remove those corrosive byproducts.

  • Yes — one of Atom Chemical’s specialty services is in improving boiler performance and minimizing energy costs by removing thermal barriers with approved chemical technologies.

  • Atom Chemical is a water treatment and service company that’s been proudly providing monthly preventative maintenance services to commercial and industrial accounts across Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, and Southern Illinois for the last three decades.
